I have had 2 episodes of aplastic anemia in the first few years of diagnosis. Thank you!

Hi Robert, I'm sorry to hear your husband is going through a difficult time. Do you know if he's been diagnosed with aplastic anemia?

A hematologist should confirm this for you, as they have the necessary expertise to make a diagnosis. You can always seek a second opinion, as Alice suggests.

That sounds crazy to me!! I have had the same blood issues many years ago when I had an aplastic anemia episode. I think I would be getting a second opinion! Good luck and please keep us aware of what happens next.

My husband has low red and white blood cells. Low hemoglobin. Low hematocrit. Low platelets and low everything else. His doctor is like oh well it’s not from the PNH. I am at my wits end. The doctor says he only deals with blood??????? I’m lost The doctor is a hematologist. I don’t know what to do.

Thank you so much
Juan!! I really appreciate your taking the time to answer. This site has helped me Understand a disorder that even my many hematologists over The years couldn’t exactly explain. Or else I am just dim!! 😊

Hi Alice.

It's a shame that your important question is being answered automatically by the MyPNHteam AI instead of a human.

I've had this disease for over 20 years, and since my first bone marrow aplasia, my platelet count has always been below or at the minimum recommended level. There have been periods with very low counts and others with very good counts, but always low.

Regarding white blood cells, I only had a severely low count during my first bone marrow crisis.

Hugs
